The 7th annual Buck O’Neil Baseball Classic took place June 22-23.  The teams competing in the tournament included: Gardner-Edgerton, Memphis RBI, Midwest Knights-St. Louis, Olathe NW Ravens, KC RBI, Mill Valley Jags, Indians, Liberty Select, Homestead Grays, Shawnee Slam, Atlanta RBI, Mac N Seitz, KC Metro Stars, Millhouse Baseball, Shawnee Mission Raiders, and St Paul RBI

The pool play winners were:  Gardner-Edgerton, Mill Valley Jags, Mac N Seitz, and KC Metro Stars. In the semifinals, the Metro Stars defeated Gardner-Edgerton 9-0 and Mac N Seitz beat Mill Valley 10-1.  The Metro Stars faced off against The Mac N Seitz Indians in the championship game played at Satchel Paige Memorial Stadium. The Metro Stars took the title, winning the game 10-4. Metro Stars catcher and infielder Spencer Shockley was named Tournament MVP.

A barbeque and skills clinic were held on June 21st.  The skills clinic was directed by head coach, Joe Reed, his staff, and the FCA Grays team; comprised of talented college players from around the country.

A youth baseball clinic was held Saturday morning at Cleveland Park with over 40 participants receiving instruction from the Rinko family, Mr. Steve Rinko and his sons Steve and Todd.
