January 2008 Newsletter
Looking into the future
by Kevin M. Gray, President

As we begin a brand new year, I look to the future with tremendous optimism. Kansas City will benefit by $60 million from college basketball and football in 2008! Because of the tireless efforts of many in our city, we have a stellar year to look forward to:
- The Phillip's 66 Big 12 Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships
- College Basketball Experience Classic
- Kansas vs. Missouri Showdown at Arrowhead
- The Dr. Pepper Big 12 Football Championship
In March, Kansas City will feature the Phillip's 66 Big 12 Men’s and Women’s basketball championships. We’re excited to have the tournament back in our city. We have always “done it better” in terms of our ability to host this event and other NCAA national championships. Downtown will be the center of college basketball which will also include the MIAA Basketball Championships, the NAIA Division I Basketball Tournament, and the College Basketball Experience. The combination of all of our new facilities and construction will provide a state-of-the-art fan experience like no other major city can deliver. We encourage you to buy tickets and take part in this historical experience.
And speaking of historical experiences, we recently witnessed a historical college football season. It will be difficult to repeatedly draw the attention from last year’s Missouri vs. Kansas match-up. Beginning immediately, friends, let’s encourage both universities respectively to keep this storied rivalry in Kansas City for years to come. I would argue that the stage and magnitude of the game on November 24, 2007 helped both schools win their respective bowl games. Given the timing over Thanksgiving, we have the potential of continuing to host and establish Thanksgiving week as one of the biggest annual sporting weeks this city has ever seen! With your help, we can make it happen.
We hope that you have a safe and prosperous year. By all means, spread the word and ask your family, friends and business associates to contact us today and join in the fun as we continue to make Kansas City one of the finest sports cities in America in 2008. Back to Top

The eight teams which participated in this years events epitomized class and competition and made their schools, supporters and fans alike proud.
Over the course of seven hours the fans in attendance watched four great rivalry match-ups between the following schools listed below with the final scores:
