Robin Roberts Bio

WIN for KC is excited to welcome Robin Roberts as the keynote speaker for the 2007 Leadership Seminar: The Sport of Business.

Robin Roberts, ABC News' "Good Morning America" (GMA) anchor, is widely considered a female sports broadcasting icon. Ms. Roberts’ versatility, and immense impact on television broadcasting, is made evident through her extensive range of experience. She has covered numerous special events ranging from the homecoming of soldiers aboard the USS Roosevelt to the Golden Jubilee at Buckingham Palace to the 25th anniversary of the papacy of Pope John Paul II in Vatican City. Ms. Roberts has also hosted ESPN’s "SportsCenter", provided coverage of the men's NCAA Final Four and LPGA events, contributed to "NFL PrimeTime", and worked as a play-by-play commentator and host of ESPN's Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA) games and specials. She has also hosted ABC Sports' "Wide World of Sports."

Ms. Roberts graduated cum laude from Southeastern Louisiana University with a BA in communications. She was also a standout performer on the women's basketball team, ending her career as the school's third all-time leading scorer and rebounder. Today, she remains one of only three Lady Lions to score 1,000 career points and grab 1,000 career rebounds.

In 1996, Roberts received the annual Distinguished Achievement Award in Broadcasting from the University of Georgia's DiGamma Kappa, the nation's oldest professional broadcasting society. She was also named a "Louisiana Legend" by Louisiana Public Broadcasting in 2001, as well as Basketball Times' "Five Most Intriguing People in College Basketball" list in January 1997.

In March 2007, Ms. Roberts released her first book, titled, "From the Heart: Seven Rules To Live By." She is a native of the Mississippi Gulf Coast and currently resides in New York City.
